Casting Call

Puppeteers wanted for Blind Summit shows in 2019-20

Blind Summit are  seeking new puppeteers and performers, and will be holding general auditions in January 2019. These auditions will be used to cast a number of projects over the next two years, both in the UK and internationally. We are inviting applications from people who are interested in working with us.

About the Company:
Blind Summit's mission is to make puppet history, creating puppets and puppetry that have never been seen before.
We tour with teams of puppeteers and puppet makers, led by Artistic Director Mark Down. We train together and are known for our “Extreme Puppetry” - an improvisational style of three man operated puppetry, inspired by traditional Japanese Bunraku, where three performers learn to channel their performances in a single puppet.

"Blind Summit are the UK's puppet masters, a company whose shows have proved that puppetry doesn't have to come either with apologies or strings attached." THE GUARDIAN
For more information about the company and our productions, please go to our website www.blindsummit.com

About you
This opportunity is for any actor, physical theatre performer, puppeteer or dancer  that wants to perform with Blind Summit Theatre. We often find those with training in physical theatre and dance can take to puppetry, so if you think you might have some natural ability, but haven't got any experience, please still  let us know. We are particularly well known for giving performers from all performance disciplines and backgrounds their first puppetry jobs therefore we would particularly encourage artists  from BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) background. So we would really like to hear from everyone who is interested in working with us.

What you will need is:
* a love of puppets/ or a desire to try something new
* willingness to work hard and muck in
* excitement about being part of a small team
* an interest in creating and devising new work
* enthusiasm for touring and working abroad
* have a sense of humour

About the auditions:
We will be holding a number of workshop style auditions  (approx 1 hour) on 17th and 18th January 2019.
They will take place in north London at our studio. Please tell us when you apply if you are not local to London, so that we can arrange appropriate audition time.

To express your interest in our auditions, please send a CV, covering letter and recent headshot to info@blindsummit.com by 6pm on 11th January.
