INveStING in ThE ArTiStS oF ToMoRRoW
In recent years puppetry has gained an increased visibility through its use in mainstream theatre productions and Blind Summit has been part of that trajectory.
It is a source of great pride to the company that Blind Summit alumni have gone on to populate some of the most successful and high-profile examples of mainstream puppetry.
The process by which Blind Summit creates work is a unique one that is rigorous, experimental and subversive. It is core to, and indivisible from, the productions themselves.
Masterpuppeteer Mark Down says:
"Being a puppeteer is like being a musician except that you have to build your own instrument, learn to play it, and then write your own music!"
Every year Blind Summit invests at least £50,000 in training puppet makers and puppeteers
Please email us with your questions relating to anything puppetry - from making to rehearsing to producing. First piece of advice: the more specific your question is, the more likely we are to be able to help!
Follow our newsletter for upcoming opportunities to do a workshop with one of our Associate Artists
Every couple of years we see as many actor-puppeteers as we can Open Auditions.
We can offer placements for keen students who want to get on the job work experience with us. You will benefit most from getting stuck in.
For actors and artists with some experience we can offer rehearsal room access to watch and get involved. This must be arranged through the office and works when people are enthusiastic, organised and reliable.
For companies and artists whose work we want to support further we can offer help and resources for rehearsing, making, producing puppetry.
