WHAT'S ON - HOME - SHOWS - PUPPET MAKING - ABOUT THE COMPANY

Presenting puppetry in new places, in new ways...

You can't do puppetry on your own - a "one man show" by a puppet requires at least three people, and a two man show needs 6!

Learning to do puppetry requires spending a lot of time together, making puppets requires space and special equipment. And then you have to make the show.

The rewards of this investment however are beautiful, unusual, visceral performances which make you think afresh about your own body, the power of movement and the fragility of life.

Blind Summit is dedicated to creating opportunities for artsits to meet in groups to develop their skills and knowledge of the art form. This is expensive and time consuming and your help is greatly appreciated.

ALL donations are very gratefully received, but if you want to commit to regular donations that is even better!

Give a puppet strings - £5 a month

Give a puppet legs - £500 a year

Make a puppet dance - £1000 a year

Make a puppet sing - £5000 a year

All donors receive regular updates about the company, invitations to book for shows first, and special one off opportunities as they arise.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Blind Summit Theatre are puppetry innovators.

Formed in 1997 by Nick Barnes and Mark Down they are subverting and reinveting the ancient Japanese artform of Bunraku puppetry for contemporary worldwide audiences.

They present puppets in new places, and in new ways.

At a time when theatre is so under threat from the proliferation of new media, puppetry is one of the areas which offers a unique, live experience for audiences.

Blind Summit's work challenges people's attitudes to puppetry. Their puppets are modern and shows tackle contemporary issues that concern them.

Inspirations include Philippe Genty, Handspring Theatre, The Wooster Group, the Sex Pistols.

Blind Summit sees puppetry as a radical part of the reinvention of theatre in our time.
